- Prospect Gold #2 is a 20 acre lode claim that has both lode & placer potential. A ledge of copper, gold & silver outcrops on a small hill on the Prospect Gold claims. This mineral rich ledge disappears under the alluvial cover in both directions. We have found quartz veins and veinlets exposed in gulches on all four claims. Some of this quartz is gold bearing. We have tested the smaller gulches down to bedrock and have recovered fines, flakes and an occasional picker. A dry washer works well here most of the year and the concentrates can be processed through a Desert Fox Gold Wheel. A gas powered shop vac will be very useful in pulling the gold from the cracks and crevices in the ragged bedrock. If you have any questions about this or any other claim we have in our inventory please do not hesitate to contact us.
- This group of 4 lode mining claims are located about 32 miles south of the town of Wickenburg, AZ in western Maricopa County. Wickenburg is a full service western town with about everything one needs including an airport, hospital, dude ranches and golf courses.Wickenburg was named after the prospector who discovered the largest, richest gold mine in the county, Henry Wickenburg. Henry discovered the Vulture Mine which produced 340,000 ounces of gold and 260,000 ounces of silver. A lot of the rich ore was hi-graded (stolen) by the miners and the the drivers of the wagons that hauled the rich ore to the mill which was located several miles east of the mine. So the production figures are off, considering the thefts. Some that were caught were hung from a tree near the mine site. All 4 claims have good high centered two wheel drive access as the Vulture Mine road runs through the claim group. The claims are situated on the northern slopes of the Belmont Mountains near the rich Tonopah Belmont and the Morning Star Mine.
